Famous Movies, Books and Authors that Influenced MEKONNEN EPIC, Part 8

As I wrap up talking about my trips the Gondar and Aksum, here I speak about some of the famous books, movies and author's that influenced me and my imagination for epic fantasy. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien was one and Conan the Cimmerian/Barbarian character created by Robert E. Howard whose adventures were featured in exciting sagas in Comic book magazines. C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series is very important for its Christian religious symbolism. And the King Arthur legends, particularly the Excalibur movie from 1981 was a big highlight for my young imagination. I felt I needed my Mekonnen Epic to have a Biblical and African influence to it that has not been seen much before.
